STEP 1:

The first step is to get a website or a blog or a facebook page. If you do not have a website, you can get one easily. You will need to have a domain name for the website, e.g  www.cash4naija.com  or www.showtimenigeria.com. The easiest website/blog site to get would be a wordpress site, it comes already optimized for various ecommerce activity you may wish to engage in; search engine optimization to rank high on google search, social media integration etc.

STEP 2:

Sign up with commission junction as a publisher. Go to www.cj.com and signup by clicking “free publisher signup” link then follow the steps.

STEP 3:

 After signing up browse through the different categories of advertisers, they have thousands to choose from. Click on a category to look at the advertiser list in the category you chose.  click on the advertiser that you are interested in and more details will be revealed about the advertiser.

STEP 4:

When you find an advertiser that you are interested in click on the "join program" button. Then agree to their terms and conditions by ticking the boxes.

It is critical to your success that you choose advertisers related to the industry that you blog about or that your website is about. An example of this is: If your website is about weight loss techniques, then you should select advertisers that sell weight loss related products. As soon as you are approved for a program it will be added to your link relationship list, which is a list of all the advertisers that approved you. Some programs will approve you automatically and some will approve you manually.

STEP 5:

The next step is to obtain the advertiser’s link which you will paste in your website, blog or facebook page. To get the link for the advertiser that approved you, click on the “get links” tab from the homepage of commission junction after you login. Then click on the “by relationship tab”, you will see a list of all the advertiser programs that have approved you. Then you will click on the “view links” under the advertiser you want to get a link for (please ensure you choose an advertiser that is active). If you choose to post a link from an advertiser that is not active (or has not approved you yet) to your website or blog, you will not be paid commission on the sales or leads.

STEP 6:

 Next step is to choose a link or banner. When you click on "view links" a list will pop up for all the links that you can post on your site or blog. Once you find a link you like click on it and from there you can copy HTML or JAVA script for that link and paste it to you website, blog or facebook page. After pasting the link to your website, click the “publish” link. This will make your affiliate link or banner active on your website.

 That is all you need to do!

Depending on the commission the advertiser pays to affiliates, whenever your website visitors click on the link or banner, they will be taken to the website of the advertiser and the application will record that you were the referrer. Thus when they purchase the advertised product, you get paid a commission for referring the buyer.

Please note that you can promote multiple advertisers on your website, blog or facebook page.
